Welcome to Polar Bear Joomla Template |
This is a templale for Joomla 1.0.x, Similar to BlackBear it is excellent for a gallery or film related theme but is also fairly general purpose.
Click here to download this theme (requires user registration in bottom/footer area of the JoomlaBear site)
Note: You can have this theme installed and configured FREE when you host with us . We'll setup your Joomla site - install this theme, configure the module positions, menus and place your logo - you'll be uploading content in no time!
Features
- 100% CSS Layout
- 100% Free - though a donation is always appreciated and will speed development of future themes. Has a collapsable module top [User2) that can be used to display a slideshow, as seen in this example.
- Transmenu ready - we recommend SWmenu - works well with this template.
- PNG transparency fix built right in!
- Fairly light weight - the images that make up the layout are under 10KB (excluding logo)
If you want your site to look like this demo then follow these instructions: The Main Menu is published in User1 - this is the only module that should be published here. It should be set to Flat List in the module settings for the css styling to work. You will need to make sure you have a Menu Class Suffix of -nav for the Top Menu and I would also suggest turning the main menu and top menu titles off.
BlackBear template uses the Left module position for the left column below the Main Menu - all your additional modules such as "Search", "Login", etc should be published here - Left.
NEW A short guide to setting up the Header Image Module can be found here: http://joomlabear.com/Tutorials/Header-Image-Setup.html There is a collapsable masthead module (User2) which is displaying the panoramic landscape images you see in this demo. If you want to make use of this you will need to create your images 853 px wide for best results - height is optional but again for best results you'll want to make all images in your slideshow the same height - we've used 200px here. And if you don't want the header/slide show just don't publish anything in User2 and it will collapse! (dissapear) We have used Header Image Module in this example (Version 2.6 as we have had problems with the latest release). There are obviously many other options you could use for a slideshow such as SlideShowPro, etc.
There is a footer module for your copyright notice, etc
Adding your logo - Our suggested method The theme comes with a single 2KB png file called head.png - this is the top slice of the layout. Open this in your favourite image editor, I use Fireworks, Import your logo into this image (File>Import in Fireworks, File>Place in Photoshop) position it the way you want it and export the image back into your Template>images folder. Alternatively you could add a Div to index.php and place an image in the template but it will only add another file to the theme and increase server load - you'd also have to make your logo with a transparent background and really the simplest and best way is to follow our first suggestion.
Any more questions don't hesitate to contact us and remember you can have have this theme installed for FREE when you host with us. We'll setup your Joomla site - install this theme, configure the modules, menus and place your logo - you'll be uploading content in no time. |

Yesterday all servers in the U.S. went out on strike in a bid to get more RAM and better CPUs. A spokes person said that the need for better RAM was due to some fool increasing the front-side bus speed. In future, busses will be told to slow down in residential motherboards. |
